Insurance protects your investment and is legally required in Virginia to drive. Before you pick up your new vehicle, contact your insurance provider or shop for quotes-most lenders require proof of coverage before you take the keys.

**Coverage types**
Liability (required by law) covers damage you cause to others. Collision and comprehensive cover damage to your vehicle from accidents, weather, or theft. Your lender may require full coverage if you're financing. If you're leasing, the lessor typically mandates it.

**New-car considerations**
Newer vehicles often qualify for discounts. Some insurers offer usage-based programs that reward safe driving. Ask about bundling home and auto, loyalty discounts, or safety-feature discounts-your new GMC's advanced tech may lower your rate.

**Next step**
Gather quotes and have your policy active before closing. Our finance team can explain what your lender requires. Call (804) 445-2810 if you have questions during the buying process.
